Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I am a small Caribbean island girl with a love for European authenticity and style. I grew up in a family where I was introduced to the life of Hospitality, food and diversity. I adore magical themes; I love the color silver and I enjoy reading Forbes articles.
On the right is a photo of my adorable pet parrot “Clinton”. His bilingual ability is what inspired me to learn Italian.
Just kidding, but he does speak parrot babble and some-sort of English.
Why did you decide to go into event planning? What about it inspires you?
To be honest, I have never had a specific career path. Pursuing an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management was also a spur of the moment decision. Who would have known?
I signed up to QC Event School because I simply needed an advance in my career… little did I know it would be the beginning of something incredibly exciting!
What inspires me? As cliché as it sounds, what inspires me the most is the ability to take an individual’s dream and make it come true.
You recently graduated from Luxury Event and Wedding Planning! You’ve also successfully completed the Event and Wedding Planning course and QC’s Event Décor course. What kind of event planner do you ultimately envision yourself being?
My ultimate goal is to create my own deluxe brand. In order to attain my goal I would like to work my way up from being an Event Assistant to an Event Coordinator by working with many renowned establishments.
Here are a few highlights from the assignments that I thoroughly enjoyed!

How do you think your background in hospitality will help pave your way into the event planning industry?
These two major industries are interlinked; having experience in both is a definite advantage.
My background in Hospitality has instilled me with many traits that I consider have already paved my way into the Event Planning Industry.
Just “listening” to your client is overrated. Anticipating clients’ needs and going above and beyond service is important especially to clients who place their trust with you.
Perhaps it’s not just about “providing a service” but the way you provide it. Taking time to understand cultural differences and an individual’s way of thinking—creating the ultimate client experience.
You mentioned that you like to create floral designs and that you often work with recycled materials. Does the backdrop of the Caribbean help inspire your designs?
The vibrant backdrop of the Caribbean definitely does influence my design. It is an open source for never ending creativity and opportunity.
The cost of living in St. Vincent can be very high; using recycled materials creates an original approach to décor and is in fact, very resourceful. Hand-made pieces are the most genuine and customized creations an individual can propose for décor. For an individual seeking a true taste of the Caribbean for their Destination Wedding or special event, this is all part of it.
What kind of advice do you have for someone who is unsure about pursing their dream career in event planning? How has QC Event School prepared you for the field?
QC Event School introduces you to the world of Event Planning. Along with the guidance of your tutor you are able to develop academically and create a constructive stance for your career. My suggestion to students and individuals alike is to research in your own time and educate yourself.
Stop dreaming about it; set your goals and pace yourself. A little progress is progress, if it doesn’t happen today it will happen eventually and when it does it will be your time.
Get yourself a saying or motto and own it. Use it as a reminder before approaching anything new. The quote that I remind myself of is by Roald Dahl, from Matilda.
“Matilda said, ‘Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it’s unbelievable…’”
